Brian Larsen
Novi’s Crown Jewel
When Novi’s ‘Main Street’
opened in 1999 amidst great fanfare, little did they
know their first tenant would be one of the most
prominent citizens and successful businessman in the
history of Novi.
Say hello to Brian
Larsen, although you probably have already if you’ve
been around town. Eight years after hanging a shingle as
the inaugural tenant of Main Street, “Larsen Jewelry
Design” continues to provide a high level of service,
quality, and expertise.
“We educate people, “
Larsen stated. “We see the business through the eyes of
the customer.” When you think about it, this is a very
sound business practice. When a consumer walks into a
place of business, they can and should expect people
there to know what questions to ask, what information to
give, and to be treated with a high degree of comfort.
Brian Larsen is a rare
bird. In addition to being the proprietor of his store,
he is also an expert in gemology, having graduated from
the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), a highly
respected institution in the world of diamonds and
jewelry.
Add that to his 23+ years
working and learning the trade and you realize that your
positive experience at Larsen Jewelry Design is the
residue of experience and a deep understanding of what
the customer wants.
Larsen specializes in
diamonds, custom work and consultation, and having a
chance to deal directly with the owner is a real treat.
Simply put, most Jewelry stores are not run by a hands
on owner that is an expert in the field.
A Michigan native through
and through, Brian Larsen was born in Detroit and
graduated from Annapolis HS in Dearborn Hts. After HS he
attended Henry Ford Community College where he earned a
degree in Law Enforcement, and even spent several years
as an auxiliary policeman for the city of Dearborn Hts.
In 1984, he moved to
Novi, but also become heavily involved with Kramer
Jewelry in Oak Park. It was during this team he decided
that the jewelry business would offer more opportunity
than law enforcement. Working fervently to learn the
business, he spent the better part of 20 years as a
valued member of the Kramer team before opening Larson
Jewelry Design in 1999.
Since opening, Larsen
Jewelry Design has been voted best jewelry store in Novi
3 times, and when you consider the fact there are 27
competitors, that is quite an achievement. Brian Larsen
is also ferociously dedicated to the well being of the
Community of Novi, and is a staunch supporter. To that
end, he donates 1% of his revenue every year to the
benefit of Novi schools, and in the last few years, that
has amounted to over $25,000 in benevolent donations.
While the Main Street
development is becoming a destination point, and is
still very esthetically pleasing to the eye, it is still
a work in progress, and has witnessed the better part of
two dozen businesses that have come and gone since 1999.
But Larsen Jewelry Design
has endured, for all the right reasons. “As a consumer,
I expect a business to know everything I need to know so
my experience is a positive one, that’s the commitment
we give to our customers.”
That is why, as the first
and longest standing tenant of Novi’s Main St, Brian
Larsen and Larsen Jewelry Design is the Crown Jewel.
