NOVI, MI - For the third
consecutive year the Novi Men’s Cross Country Team has
been crowned Academic State Champions. The Wildcats who
represented Novi at the State Finals defeated all other
teams with their cumulative grade point average of 4.0!
“The fastest runners on our team each carry a perfect
GPA” exclaimed Coach Robert Smith. “We take as much
pride in winning the academic state championship as we
do with our athletic achievements. It is a huge point of
pride for our program”.
Novi also ran to an impressive 4th
place finish at the State Meet this year. Only about 20%
of all cross country teams even qualify for the state
finals. “To place in the Top 10 at the State is quite an
achievement” commented Coach Smith. “I am extremely
proud of this team; both on the cross country course and
in the classroom”.
Novi has placed in the Top 10 in
the State Meet thirteen times, including two State
Championships and two Runners-up. They also have 4
Academic State Championships under their belts.
