Novi Hockey Team recognized at the
State Capitol
4/29/11

LANSING, MI - State Rep. Hugh Crawford on Thursday recognized the Novi Wildcat Varsity Hockey team in a special ceremony on the floor of the Michigan House of Representatives.

The Wildcats recently took the title of 2010-2011 Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 Champions in a shut-out victory over Orchard Lake St. Mary.

"This team has tremendous talent," said Crawford, R-Novi, "They fought through a lot of tough competitors to rise to the top and become Division 1 State Champions. We are so proud of their accomplishments and have enjoyed the excitement they have brought to the City of Novi."

Also honored by Crawford was MHSAA Hockey Coach of the Year, Todd Krygier. Krygier, a Novi native, is a retired professional hockey player with nine seasons of NHL hockey and experience on three USA national teams. He has coached youth hockey in Novi the past five years.

Crawford presented Coach Krygier with a tribute announcing the accomplishments he has attained while working with the high school student athletes.

"We are fortunate to have a fine and talented coach," Crawford said. "Todd Krygier was voted by his peers as Coach of the Year, that speaks for itself for what a truly fine coach he is."
