Novi Track and Field now 4-0 for season

May 7, 2012

When this spring season first began for the Novi Wildcats Track and Field team a lot of changes were made which left many  wondering how they would adapt and perform with all of the alterations now in the picture.

People wondered if this year's team could live up to last season's undefeated (regular season) record, which placed a great deal of pressure on this year's athletes.

Furthering the changes was the conjoining of both the boys and girls hurdle group due to the resignation of the former boys hurdle and pole vaulting coach, Seth Furlow. On top of all that, the team was placed into a different conference, forcing them to face new opponents that they were unfamiliar with.

Predictions were trying to be made in regards to how the team would do through out the season but at the end of the day, a prediction is always just a prediction and doesn't mean much.

Though, at this juncture, it is now far enough into the season to properly assess Novi T&F. The 'Cats defeated their 4th straight opponent, the South Lyon Lion's, last Tuesday, leaving them with a 4-0 regular season record. I think it's safe to declare that all of the changes didn't harm Novi's ability to perform.

The 'Cats have their last regular season meet at their home stadium against Stevenson on Tuesday, the 8th of May. It will be Novi's Senior Night, meaning there will be a bit more energy in the air with the soon to be graduates coming to the realization that their last track season is coming to an end. If there's one regular season meet to see, this will be it.

Following the regular season Stevenson meet will be Conferences, Regionals, Associations (held by Novi), Counties, and finally, what everyone works for all season long, States on June 2nd - the same day as graduation.
