New season, coach
for Wildcat Varsity Basketball

The air is getting colder and the seasons are changing. This could only mean one thing. A new sports season is on its way and basketball is just around the corner. Tryouts for the Novi Varsity Basketball team have come to an end and a team has been formed including six returning varsity players along with an additional seven newcomers.

The former head coach, Cory Heitsch, is no longer with the Novi Wildcat’s varsity basketball team and due to the success that has followed him many are worried that the ‘Cats wont be as victorious as their predecessors. When a new head coach is introduced to a team, an entirely new set of adaptations need to be made by the preexisting players in order for success to come. When these adaptations come, so does chemistry. Without team chemistry the possibility for greatness is slim.

After speaking with Senior and returning varsity player Michael Jocz, it does not appear that chemistry will be an issue this season. Jocz explains that he likes the new coach, Coach Tass. "He is very motivated, knows what he is doing, and loves the game of basketball.”

According to Jocz, the ‘Cats are improving every day and he hopes “to take the team further than it has ever gone before.” Though, right now the ‘Cats are simply trying to stay focused on the present and take things one step at a time, the team seems to be coming together well and at early stages such as this that is the most we look to gain.

Jocz believes that the team has talent and athleticism which should lead them to great accomplishments this year, but at this point there is no way to tell quite how far they will go. For now we will just have to wait to see where the ‘Cats and their new coach end up this season.

The ‘Cats have multiple scrimmages coming up, and their first official season game will be on December 6th at Walled Lake Central. Be there to support our Novi varsity Wildcats basketball team.
