The Defending State Champs are back on the ice!

November 14, 2011

The defending State Champion Novi Wildcats Varsity Hockey team has returned to the ice once again. In last week's preseason scrimmage against Lake Orion, the Wildcats put on an impressive show, leaving their fans reassured that this season's team didn't lose too much talent from their predecessors.

Early in the first period, after a flurry of well executed passes, Senior Travis Trainor sent the puck over to Senior Brandon Ramsay who started off the Cat's lead. Following that we're goals by Juniors Wes Guenther, Luke Bageris, and Jon Mencer. Lake Orion managed to slip the puck into the 'Cat's net before the game was over resulting in a final score of 4-1.

After the loss of so much talent from last year's senior squad, some were worried as to what the outcome would be as this season unraveled. Senior Travis Trainor, feels otherwise. Trainor explains that "we have a very balanced team this year and we believe in each other. We're going to work hard together to make another run at the state title."

After witnessing first hand the performance given by our returning players I believe that it's safe to assume that with the combination of the guidance from Head Coach Todd Krygier and the strong willpower the players put fourth the Cat's will do just fine this season and maybe even win the state title for their second year in a row.

If you don't believe me feel free to see for yourself this Friday night when the Cats take on North Farmington at their home arena.
