September 18, 2011 Last Thursday the Novi Wildcats Varsity Volleyball team went at it against their all-time rivals, the Northville Mustangs. The ‘Cats were determined to take down their opponent, and that is exactly what they did. Winning the first match supplied the girls with confidence in their abilities, which is what led to the dominating performance given in match two in which Novi held their rivals to an extraordinary four points. The Mustangs decided to change up their strategy in hopes of a different outcome. Between the modified method and the newfound confidence, or arguable overconfidence within the ‘Cat’s mentality, the Mustangs managed to come back and defeated the ‘Cats in the third round, 25-18. After being brought back down to reality, the ‘Cats adapted to the Mustang’s altered scheme and took down their opponent once and for all in the 4th match, this time winning 25-14. According to Senior, Anna Lu, the systematic communication shown on the court between the ‘Cats played a key roll in the success of Thursday night’s game. This allowed the girls to execute plays, make smart decisions and pull out the win in the end. Aside from the momentary lack of focus in the third match, the Novi Wildcats Varsity Volleyball team once again proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with, and furthered their undefeated record to 3-0 for the season. The ‘Cats next game is home this Tuesday against South Lyon East. Hopefully the girls prevail and add another “W” onto their untarnished record. (c) 2011 Novi
