Novi Girls Soccer recognized as the
#1 team in America

September 11, 2011

Throughout the last seven years the Novi Wildcats Girls Varsity Soccer team has attained five State Championship titles. The last two years have been especially exceptional due to the fact that the team won the State Title back to back.

The girls have outperformed just about every opponent they've gone up against and ended their most recent season 22-0-2. Due to their impressive achievements, the 'Cats have been gaining a lot of well deserved attention, not only within the state, but across the nation as well.

Novi Girls Soccer was recently  recognized by ESPN and was declared the only public school in America to be national champions, boys or girls.

An opportunity such as this doesn't come around very often. I wanted to get a more in depth perspective as to how this achievement felt so I talked to one of the players.

Senior Katie Rudzinski told me it was "almost indescribable" and that she "felt so honored and proud to be a part of this team."

In fact, when Rudzinski first found out she says she "had a hard time believing the news."

I think all of us here in Novi can say that we're honored and proud of these girls and that we look forward to watching the players continue their athletic careers.
