Short in numbers but not in determination, the Novi Wildcats Varsity Football team brought an end to their first week of camp with a passing scrimmage at Milford. Though the 'Cats only had three days to practice a hand-full of plays, the team showed impressive execution and performed better than most projected them to do. The fact that an entirely new coaching staff has been introduced to the varsity squad made many individuals question how well the group would mesh together. From first-hand experience, I can truly say that the new staff as well as all of the players appear to be getting along and coming together as a team. The sport of football is like no other in the sense that if teamwork is not prevalent, there is absolutely no chance of success. Other sports can have a few athletes who stand out and allow a team to win games but that is not the case in football. In football, each individual player on the field must do their part and work together as a unit to accomplish the overall goal of winning. With the comradery that has already been seen, I have no doubt in my mind that teamwork will not be an issue for this season's Novi Varsity Football team. I and many others are looking forward to the progression of this year's varsity squad throughout the season. There have been many changes since last year and we are all confident that the changes have been for the better. (c) 2011 Novi
