Wildcat Varsity
Lacrosse adjusts,
and wins big

May 25, 2011

The Novi Wildcats Varsity Lacrosse team continued their dominant season into the playoffs by going up against Canton for the second time this season last Thursday.

Last time the two teams played the score was much closer ending with the ‘Cats on top 9-4. The ‘Cats learned from their previous encounter with Canton and made a few adjustments to help advance themselves in the playoffs.

Previously in the season, I brought up an issue that I thought was preventing the ‘Cats in going from good, to great. This issue was a lack of teamwork. I have a feeling someone on the team saw that article and agreed with it because after the performance put fourth by Novi last Thursday, it is clear that teamwork is no longer a problem.

I generally pick out a few players who did well to commend for my articles, but when playing Canton last Thursday every Wildcat on that field made a noticeable contribution to help the team, so I didn’t believe it's necessary to single anyone out this week.

From start to finish the ‘Cats were communicating well and adjusting whatever they thought was necessary. By working together the ‘Cats ripped apart a team that they previously had issues with, and ended up with a significantly different final score. The ‘Cats ended this game with a score of 17-4, keeping Canton at the same score as it was the last time they met and increasing their own score by 8.

The ‘Cats face their baseline rival, the Northville Mustangs, on Tuesday in round two of the playoffs. The last time these two teams met it ended closely with the ‘Cats only up by one. The ‘Cats expect to pull out another win against their rivals and advance to round three of the playoffs.
