A redeeming victory for Novi Varsity Lacrosse

May 15, 2011

The Novi Wildcats Varsity Lacrosse team took on their all time rival, the Northville Mustangs, last Thursday. The Mustangs had the home field advantage but that didn't discourage the 'Cats. With both teams being ranked top 10 in the state and having a high level of skill we all knew it was going to be a close game from the very beginning.

From what was seen on the field, it appeared that Novi was the team more motivated to win. Last year the 'Cats left the field with a loss which is something they were not in the mood to repeat. With that in mind, the 'Cats had all the more reason to win.

Junior Wildcat Kent Burnett set a very high standard for his team to live up to with an outstanding performance of 5 goals. With this precise execution being carried out on the field, the 'Cats were pushed to succeed even more.

When the battle was over the Novi Wildcats redeemed themselves from last years loss by defeating the Northville Mustangs with a final score of 12-11. This win gave the 'Cats an impressive season record of 12-1.

After the game I made an effort to find out what the 'Cats did differently this year compared to last that allowed them to gain the big win. The response I received from Junior, Adam Haynes was simple and to the point, "We wanted it more."

The Wildcat's next game is at home on Monday, May 16th at 6:30 p.m. against Brighton High School. The winner of this game is granted the title of KLAA Champions.
