Cat fight on Novi's
track turns into a
mow down

May 8, 2011

Last Tuesday there was a cat fight between the Novi Wildcats and the South Lyon Lions on Novi's track. Though, by the end of the night it appeared to be more of a mow down than a battle, with the Novi Wildcats boys and girls track teams both dominating over the South Lyon Lions.

Throughout the course of the meet the Novi girls had swept a miraculous seven varsity events, which helped lead to the crushing victory over South Lyon consisting of a final score of 110-27.

No, that is not a typographical error. I truly mean 110-27. Amazing!

Novi boys also tamed the Lions by sweeping a total of three varsity events and ending the night with a score of 83-54. This was the highest amount of points scored on the boys this season.

This win over South Lyon provided the 'Cats with an undefeated record of 4-0 in their regular season dual meets.

Last week, both team's swept the Raiders Relays, with the girl's team setting school records in the Sprint Medley Relay, 4x1600m,  4X200m, Shuttle Hurdle Relay, and the Distance Medley Relay, and the boy's team set a record on the 110m Shuttle Hurdle Relay, beating their old record by 2 seconds (Editor's note: Lance was on that relay team).

Hopefully the 'Cats can continue their current winning streak next week when running against what is expected to be the toughest competition for the 2011 season - Livonia Stevenson.

The meet is scheduled to occur at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Stevenson, and will be the last dual meet of the season.

If you can't make it to this meet there is no need to panic. There are still five invitational meets remaining, one of which is hosted at Novi High School.
