January 9, 2011 There was a Cat Fight between the Novi Wildcats Girls Varsity Basketball team and the South Lyon Lions on the pine Friday night. The ‘Cats dominated the majority of the game and were up by 17 at one point. Though, towards the end of the fourth quarter there was fear of a loss in Novi’s future. With Novi's 17-point lead slimming way down to a 4-point difference, . the Lions were pressing hard and not letting up. This forced the ‘Cats to refocus and realize the game was not over yet, and that they couldn’t let up. By the end of the battle the pack that came off the court with a “W” was the Novi Wildcats; final score of 42-34, keeping up their streak and making their record 6-0. Junior, Ally D’Annibale (#20) and freshmen, Kerri McMahan (#5) played key rolls in the game, putting up a combined total of 23 points on the board. Senior, Alyssa Armiak was also a key contributor in the game. I spoke with Armiak after the game and asked how she felt the ‘Cats would do going into the game. Armiak responded by saying “there was a lot of tension between us and South Lyon, so I knew it would be a physical game but I knew we would get the win if we played our game. Which we did!” The ‘Cats next game is this Tuesday at Salem High School at 7:00 p.m. They hope to continue their winning streak and increase their record to 7-0 for the season. (c) 2011 Novi
