Wildcat Hockey ices their Baseline rival

December 12, 2010

On Wednesday, December 8th the Novi Wildcats Varsity Hockey Team battled their Baseline rival, the Northville Mustangs. The Wildcats went into this game prepared to dominate and that’s exactly what they did.

Through out the first period the ‘Cats kept up the pressure, putting in 3 against the Mustangs and giving them a 3-0 lead.

Not far into the second period the Mustangs finally decided to get it together and put one up on the scoreboard making it 3-1 game. The Mustangs thought they had a chance at this point but little did they know the ‘Cats still weren’t done. By the end of the second period the ‘Cats put up 4 more goals with an astonishing 6 point lead.

It appeared that the Mustangs lost all hope of leaving the ice with a win and simply gave up on the idea. In the third and final period, the ‘Cats put in one last goal making it a final score of 8-1.

With a crushing defeat of Novi's biggest rival, the players and fans were all going wild.

After the game I talked to junior, Dylan Shepard. He explained that the team “expected nothing less” and were “very happy about bringing home another win.”

The ‘Cat's next game is away this Friday vs. Davison at the Detroit Skating Club. They hope to add a few more W’s to their 5-2 record, and hope the fans will come out and cheer them on.
