Wildcat Varsity Volleyball having
a great season

October 17, 2010

The Novi Wildcats Varsity Volleyball team just participated in the “Beast of the East” tournament, which consisted of 32 teams. The Wildcats knocked out 5 teams (Avondale, Divine Child, Dakota, Wyandotte and Clarkston) before making it all the way to the semi-finals.

In the semis the Wildcats faced Marian, the defending state champions. After two hard fought matches the Wildcats came up a bit short with close scores of 25-18 and 25-20.

To get a more in depth perspective of the overall tournament, I asked Kaley Bowles, a member of the team, what they did well and what they could have improved on. She explained that “We did really good at executing the play and hitting, but we still need to work on serve receive and getting a good pass to our setter.”

In the regular dual-meet season the Wildcats are having a very strong winning streak of 8-0, and are ranked 5th in the state by MaxPreps as of Thursday.

The 'Cats hope to continue their winning streak by defeating Northville at home on  Tuesday.
