We have it great in Novi. Great community, great environment, and great schools for our children…Notice I said school(s).

Often we forget we have two high schools in Novi. When Catholic Central moved in a few years ago, it enhanced the already great opportunity in Novi.

And much like the Novi Wildcats, the CC Shamrocks have a tremendous sports tradition as well. This year in fact, their football team is not only undefeated, they’ve barely been scored upon.

When the playoffs start in two weeks, I urge everybody to get behind this team as they endeavor to bring a State Championship to Novi.

In 2002, the Shamrocks did just that, and in terrific Regional Game the Cats and Shamrocks hooked up and were tied 3-3 at the half.

In other words, the team that eliminated Novi High School went on to win the State Championship. It took a team of that caliber to do it, after the ‘Cats had defeated state powerhouses Milford and Lake Orion in that order.

Now, the Shamrocks are firmly entrenched in Novi.

While they don’t have the long history as a Novi resident like the Novi Wildcats do, they are a big part of our community, and another source of pride.

Good luck Shamrocks, we’ll be rooting for you.
