A Taxing Schedule
for Rachele Folino
-Where are they now?
July 21, 2008
As Novi 2006 graduate Rachele Folino enter her junior
year as a Varsity basketball player at Niagra University in New York,
she is finding her summer schedule to be very taxing... in a good way.
In addition to all the voluntary summer workouts that are synonymous
with college basketball, she is also working full-time in an accounting
internship at a firm in Buffalo, NY.
She was on the short-list to make it from an original group of 48
applicants, many from one of her on-court rivals, Canisius University.
Alternating between the tax and audit side of the accounting business,
she is also busy conditioning and weight training, so you could also say
she's getting a real education in time management.
One of the great benefits of participating in sports, especially on the
college level is that it is a great training ground and proving ground
on the road to self-reliance.
Soon she will be back in school full-time and
preparing for a busy fall basketball schedule, and the 6-0 footer looks
to be ready to hold a major role for the Purple Eagles.
But when the history books are written it will show
that her 2008 summer was anything but a vacation. It was a chance to
leverage herself and her talents by applying the competitiveness one
uses in athletics to a practical purpose in the real world.
For Rachele Folino, once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat
when it comes to playing to win...
