Competition
should
be fun

1/21/2007

So, an older gentlemen is at his favorite watering hole, and he’s had one too many when he notices a dartboard on the wall. The sign says that anybody that can make three straight bulls-eyes wins a prize.

An ex-athlete with a competitive spirit, he jumps up and fires three straight into dead center and promptly asks the manager, ‘what do I win?’

The manager looks at his partner and says, wow, no one has ever done that before, what do we give him? His partner whispers, ‘go in the back and you’ll see an old aquarium, reach in and grab something.’

Soon he returns with a turtle and hands it to the patron, who simply says, ‘thank-you’ and he heads for the door.

About a month later, the dart expert returns, and once again, after sipping one too many, he says, ‘hey is that contest with the dart board still going on?’

The manager says ‘why not’ and hands him 3 darts… Once again, this sharpshooter is right on as he deposits three-in-a-row right in the bulls-eye.

As the two managers scratch their head as to what to give the contestant for his effort, they realize he’s the only person to accomplish this, and now he’s done it twice! ‘What did we give you last time?’ they inquired.

The old man replied, ‘it was a Roast Beef sandwich on a hard roll, and boy was it good!’

The moral of the story is simple. Sports and competition should be fun, as long as you don’t cross the line, on or off the field. There are two types of pain that are associated with athletic effort- The pain of discipline and the pain of regret. The pain of discipline weighs ounces, when compared with the pain of regret which can be carried for life.

Have fun. Play Hard.

Stay clean… Your life depends on it.
