2007 -
Bring it on

1/2/2007

If past is prologue, then sports in Novi for 2007 will be very exciting. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a crystal ball. I can’t tell you which teams will win championships, which players will become All-State, or who will hit the game winning-shot, score the game-winning goal, touchdown, or deliver the game-winning hit.

I can’t tell you who will play what position, what coaching decisions might develop, or even how fairly officiated all contests might be.

But, I can tell you this. In our community, the sports landscape will continue to amaze us, transfix, and even aggravate us. But it will continue to galvanize a first-class community, bringing together people of all races, religions, and political affiliations.

When the kids step onto the court, the field, or in the arena, we all become one. We are unified, joined together for a common cause. Almost no other entity can make that claim. And perhaps no other medium like HS Sports can do it as well.

High School sports are devoid of contract squabbles, media scrutiny, and illegal steroid use. While they are not perfect, they represent, for the most part, the best in people, teaching kids that education and life are an activist pursuit. And ultimately, very few remember the final score or how many points were tallied, but rather the way you conducted yourself. Winning with class, and losing with dignity.

Novi has an excellent reputation for providing a vehicle these lifetime experiences that create memories to be cherished.

I can’t tell you exactly what 2007 will hold for Novi sports, but I know it will be good, and it will be looked back upon with reverence.

2007?… Bring it on
