6/26/06 Novi High School Baseball Coaches Green, Koceski, and Combs are the only group to lead the Wildcats in this millennium. And, until this season, they had won the KVC Championship six years in a row! But, nothing lasts forever… Well, maybe some things do, like their undying love for the game of baseball. These gentlemen not only devote countless hours preparing the high schoolers for the rigors of a tough season, but when June rolls around, they don their uniforms and cleats and they get back on the field as…players. That’s right, maybe some things do last forever. Koceski, a former infielder at Michigan State, and Combs a former player himself, as well as Green, are all members of the Detroit Men’s Senior Baseball League Their website can be found at www.detroitmsbl.com, and it is a great vehicle for men of all ages to continue their passion for the game by hitting, throwing, catching, and running the bases in a very competitive atmosphere. Rick Green and Mike Koceski have been with the Yankees on the 27-over league and Green also plays for the Diamondbacks in the older division as well. In fact, their participation in the league ultimately led to the formation of Novi’s most successful baseball staff in school history. “I’ve had a lot of fun and I’ve met some great guys,” Koceski added. “In fact this is where Ricky and I met and we’ve been playing and coaching together for 8 years now.” There is no question that there devotion to the game has greatly enhanced their hands-on style, and interactive approach. Novi Wildcat Baseball has been a force for many years thanks to Coaches Green, Koceski, and Combs. Maybe some things really do last forever. Hope Springs Eternal. (c) 2006 Novi
