How sweet it is… Lady Cat’s horses simply too much for the Mustangs

6/18/06

The last time Coach Brian O’Leary’s Girls Soccer team lost a game was back in 2004 against their Baseline Rival, the Northville Mustangs. That year, the ‘Stangs moved on to become well-deserved State Champs.

In 2005, Northville and Novi met in the Playoffs again, this time for the District Championship, and Novi won the rematch. Even casual observers secretly wished that two teams of this caliber would be better served in a State Championship Final, rather than have to meet so early.

This year, we got our wish. On Saturday, the only thing hotter than the weather and the tartan turf were the Novi Wildcats, as they won their 2nd State Championship in as many years by defeating, you guessed it… The Northville Mustangs 3-1.

How sweet it is…

It was an interesting view as the stands were directly behind Novi’s bench and I don’t think you’ll find a more close-knit unit anywhere.

If Hollywood made a movie about teamwork, passion, genuine dedication and total commitment, they could look no further than the Novi Wildcats Girls Soccer Team.

And the parents deserve credit too for their, love, support, and the family atmosphere that is so prevalent at games.

On this Father’s Day weekend, I’m sure I speak for the whole team when I say we’ve never been prouder fathers (and Mothers) for the way these kids represented their school, their community, and their friends and families.

Back-to-Back. The nice thing is, we don’t have to see the movie, we were there.

Congratulations, ladies…

How Sweet it is…
