It Still Runs Through”

10/8/2005

The Novi Football Wildcats will not win the KVC this year. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just reality. And reality shows us that no one ever bats 1.000, goes undefeated for life, or makes it through every season unscathed.

But know this, Novi football has arrived. When people are talking behind your back, you’ve arrived. When people root for you to fail, you’ve arrived. When people target you as their measure of success, you’ve arrived.

Tough talk? Cynical talk? Of course… Uncomfortable to hear, maybe…

Reality? Absolutely.

Novi football is a class unit that has had nothing but success in this millennium. Since Coach Tab Kellepourey’s arrival, they’ve been a fixture in the playoffs, winning District Titles, Regional Championships, conference crowns and along the way, establishing the fact that the “road to the KVC title, goes through Novi.” In actuality, Brighton Coach Bill Murray uttered those same words a few weeks ago.

And don’t forget, for 33 years prior, John Osborne’s accomplishments weren’t too shabby either.

Add it all up and Novi is still the Cats meow. People want what they have. That’s just reality.

So, when negative talk and inflammatory comments fill the air from the mouths of those that have observed Novi’s success the last few years, take it as a compliment.

Novi has officially arrived. A team, or a program cannot be judged by one game, or one season.

The road to the KVC title, still runs through Novi.

That’s reality.
