Once a Wildcat…
Always a Wildcat!

8-8-2005

I’m genuinely excited for Novi’s own Sarah Schmitt. She’s off to Bethune-Cookman College to play volleyball for the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.

Located in Daytona Beach, Florida, Bethune-Cookman has made a name for itself competing against tough Division I opponents in Men’s football, basketball, and women’s sports as well.

Sarah Schmitt had a terrific HS career as a Novi Wildcat, and it was topped off by a sensational left-footed goal in the State Finals against Brighton, as she helped to lead her team to their first ever State Soccer Championship.

But, Schmitty is a great volleyball player as well and she’ll do just fine on the next level. She’s the type of player that is the life of the party. Her energy, her exuberance and her ability to fire up her teammates were a thing to behold.

The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats open up their volleyball season in just 3 weeks at the Florida Atlantic Invitational, and Sarah Schmitt will be suited up in her familiar #6, in the cardinal and gold colors.

Coach Vanessa Cogswell is getting herself a real treat in Schmitt, as she looks to have success in her first season as the Head Volleyball Coach.

I am proud of Sarah Schmitt, and I am proud to know her. I look for big things out of this season as well. There is no doubt in my mind her game will translate well to the college caliber, and it will be a great fit. Her teammates are going to have a blast hanging out with her, competing with her, and her fellow Wildcat friends will realize she is a great team player as well.

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat... In Sarah Schmitt’s case, it’s literal as well as figurative.

Good luck Schmitty, I’m sure you wanted this opportunity, and you deserved it.

And I guarantee you the folks at Bethune-Cookman wanted you just as much…
