3’s are Wild!

6/1/2004
As we head into the final stretch run of the 2004 Wildcat Sports year, Novi will send 3 teams into state playoff competition. The Lady Wildcat Soccer team heads into Districts Tuesday, and the Boys Varsity Tennis Team will do the same.

And, if things go according to Hoyles… next Saturday at 3:00pm, the Novi Wildcats will lock horns with the Northville Mustangs for District Championship baseball. If that ends up being the case, then 3’s really are wild!

Novi and Northville have already competed 3 separate times this year for District Championship rights, with Novi prevailing in basketball and Northville victorious in hockey and soccer.

Should Northville come out on top in Saturday’s projected contest, it would be their 3rd straight Baseball District Championship. On the other hand, if the Wildcats get it done, it will be the 3rd District title for Coach Rick Green in his 5-year tenure at Novi High School.

Meanwhile it will mark the 3rd time Novi and Northville have played this season, as Novi swept a doubleheader at Northville back on Saturday May 14th.

But, before any of this can happen, there are 3 other very important games that must take place. Northville plays South Lyon in a pre-district game on Tuesday, and the winner will advance to play Canton Saturday morning at 9:00am. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Novi-Salem Contest, which should start before noon.

And, again, if all goes according to popular opinion, at 3:00pm, the Northville-Novi rivalry will once again take center stage, and 3’s will be have truly been wild.

Whether or not this game takes place, and regardless of the outcome, congratulations to all the players and coaches on both sides, for your multiple achievements over the years.

On the other hand, if the game does come to fruition, it could be one of the greatest epic battles in Novi-Northville history.

… Until next year, of course.
