Yo, Adrian

There is one thing even the most dedicated Novi fan can’t do… That’s being in two places at once. I have been looking forward to Friday’s double-header for quite some time. In hockey, Novi faces Northville and the winner advances as the Regional Champion.

In hoops, Novi visits Pinckney, and the winner emerges as the KVC champion as they head into District play on Monday.

Much like I did prior the epic Novi/Adrian football game last November that decided the District Championship (Novi 27-25 by the way!), I am writing this column before I know the outcome of either game.

But this I do know for sure. Both the hockey and basketball teams defeated their opponent earlier in the year. Does that present any guarantees? No, but our kids no how to win, flat out.

Both teams will be well coached, well prepared and ready for this glorious moment. And now I come to my point.

Isn’t it tremendous that time and time again the Novi Wildcats find themselves in such meaningful games? I can tell you as a fan and a parent; that win, lose, or draw I already feel like all the participants and their families and friends are already winners.

Now don’t get me wrong, I want to see our kids win. I just want them to know what a great ride it’s been, and how we all as a community acknowledge and appreciate the effort and desire it takes to get to this point.

And then there are the fans... The community support has been terrific and Friday night will be no different. I’m always amazed to see so much enthusiasm and energy from people that don’t even have kids on the team. You matter! You do your part, and the team appreciates it. Any accomplished athlete will tell you that having fan support is like having an extra player on the court, on the ice, or on the field.

Good luck to both teams, I know you’ll do us proud like you always do. I just wish I could be two places at once!
