The Devil is in
 the Details

Back in the late ‘70s when Lee Trevino was hotter than a firecracker, he chipped in from 90 yards one day to win a tournament, and someone from the gallery shouted, “Trevino, you lucky SOB!”

To which Trevino replied, “Yeah, you know the harder I work, the luckier I get!”

If in fact life’s battles are won before hitting the battlefield, then it appears the Wildcat Football Team won a few battles in Mid-August… We are witnessing a team that is immaculately prepared, and it has really shown in their first two games.

Sure, you can call me out on the three turnovers, including two on the five yard-line, but Novi was still prepared and they definitely recovered from those human errors. In fact, not only was Howell shut out, they never even got into the red zone. The scoreboard will show a 17-0 victory for Novi, but it doesn’t tell the full story.

This preseason offered many challenges. First the 2003 Power Outage (as it’s officially called) cost the Cats two valuable days of preparation. Then the annual Green and White game was rained out and before you knew it the season was here.

But the finished product you’re seeing is clear evidence this team is prepared and ready to take on all-comers. Whoever lines up against Novi this year had better buckle their chinstrap and tighten their laces just a little bit more. That’s not to say they have a God-Given right to take the field and mail in the victory, it’s just an observation that this team is poised, primed, and has the look and feel of a veteran squad that could be going places.

The interesting part is, they haven’t even played their best football yet. Don’t be too upset about the three turnovers last week.

You really don’t want them peaking yet, do you?
