November 16, 2010
November is the month of giving,
and Novi High School students are stepping up. There have
been a few canned food drives so far this year, and there is
more to come.
There is also a winter gear drive
going on right now for students and their families to donate new or
gently used coats, hats, gloves, and boots to benefit children and
families in need.
Also, the 89.5 FM WOVI student
run radio station is partnering with the Toys For Tots Foundation on
November 19, 2010. Students will be hosting a twelve hour radio-thon
in support of the cause, encouraging students and community members
to donate.
The toys must be new or gently
used and unwrapped. Deejays will be located in the Novi High School
atrium from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.; you must enter off Taft Road
when visiting the school during this time.
The student deejays will move to
the lobby of the Fuerst Auditorium inside Novi High to support their
cause before and during the 7th annual Novi High School
Talent Show, which begins at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
If you donate a toy anytime
throughout the day, you will receive $1.00 off your admission to the
talent show. Regular admission is $5.00, and all proceeds will go to
benefiting the Novi Creative Arts Collaborative (NCAC) programs.
In Februarys past, the Novi High
School Student Council has been known to host a charity dance
for all high school students. The money made from ticket sales is
usually donated directly a specific charity.
In years past though, the dances
have been known to get cancelled due to a lack of involvement in the
student body, but this year we are encouraging everyone to step up,
be thankful for what you have, and give back.
