Two Thousand-Nine Done, Two Thousand-Ten Just Beginning

January 6, 2010

The year of 2009 was a good one, there were a lot of things that happened, for good and for worse, but now is the time to forget about the past and focus on the future. 2010 is sure to be a good year with all the new things that are happening around Novi High School.

Whether you agree with the changes that have been made throughout the year or not, now is the best time to welcome new things. I say this because the beginning of a new year is suppose to bring us changes and struggles.

But in order for this year to really start the new decade off with a bang, we have to be willing to face our fears and try new things, even if you don’t have any fears that need to be faced, reach out to others and help make changes in their life.

Making positive changes can really do a lot for your future, whether it be next month you are focusing on or the next five years, with a new decade under way, this is your chance to be the person you really want to be.

For seniors, now is the time to stay away from the feared “senioritis” and keep your eyes open for new opportunities, and with your college years fast approaching now is the time to figure out what you want to do with yourself in the real world.

For juniors, its time to start thinking about where you want to apply for college and what you need to do to get there, plus, its almost our turn to be on top of the ladder in our school after the seniors leave.

For sophomores, you will be ending your first half of high school, making that notch in your belt, or that mark on your hat, is very significant. But heading into the second half of your high school career could be a struggle, and now is the time to learn from the upperclassmen how to handle these struggles with grace.

And finally, freshmen, congratulations! You have survived your first semester at Novi High School, and with many more semesters and changes to come, now is the time to take control of your life, and figure out what you really want to do during your high school life.

Now that all of those things have been said, I can only think of one more thing that applies to everyone… HAPPY NEW YEAR! Let's make it a good one!
