Gawel
Leaving Makes For Sad Vibe
November 12, 2009
For the past few days there
has been a sad vibe about the students and staff at Novi
High School. Administrator Randy Gawel has been the
assistant principal at Novi High for eight years, but his
time has come to move on and we will miss him.
Mr. Gawel will be leaving the
Novi Community School District as of November 13th, 2009.
Where will he be headed next you ask? Berkley High School;
Mr. Gawel has been asked to be the new principal at Berkley
starting November 16th, 2009 and he has accepted the
position.
Mr. Gawel is a well known,
highly visible person at Novi High who always did his best
to help students get their voices heard and their scheduling
conflicts worked out. The students at Berkley are going to
be very lucky to have him. My sister and I have both babysat
for his children and we can both tell he is not only a good
high school administrator but a great father.
Anyone who has ever been in
Mr. Gawel’s office knows that he cares about his students.
All you had to do was look at his bulletin board of
pictures, newspaper articles, and autographs. The entire
board was filled with anything and everything he could find
to show off what a fantastic support of the students he has.
As a student who talked to
Mr. Gawel frequently, it will be a very different day
without him around. He won’t be in our halls anymore during
passing time and, when he was, he would always give a wave
or smile to whomever passed by him.
As a person who writes
articles for an internet site, I have always been told to
make sure the reading could be done in sixty seconds or
less, but this has to be the first time that I am having a
hard time keeping this piece under sixty seconds with all
the great things I could say about Mr. Gawel.
Although he will be leaving
the district as an administrator, he will still be here as a
resident and parent to students who attend Novi Schools. Mr.
Gawel will truly be missed, but we wish him the best of luck
with his new position as principal of Berkley High School. |
